Write On, Speak Out! 2016-2017
Open to high school students from grades 9-12, the Write On, Speak Out Poetry Mentorship Program engages, enhances, and empowers program participants through spoken word poetry and performance. From October to April, there are two 8-week mentorship sessions. Each program participant is paired with one of four accomplished spoken word mentor-poets. Throughout the mentorship period, participants have one-on-one meetings per month with their mentor, two two-hour workshops a month, as well as group outings and performance opportunities at monthly open mic nights. Mentees will develop their communication, presentation, performance, and creative writing skills.
The program culminates with two events hosted at Hattiloo Theatre.
